Posted in on окт 16, 2012 кофе , рынок , арабика , робуста

Arabica coffee futures on ICE slipped to a five-week low on Monday, weighed down by the widening December/March spread, while raw sugar extended its losses to a three-week low at the start of London Sugar Week amid ample global supplies. Cocoa futures eased ahead of European third-quarter grind data, a measure of demand, set for release on Tuesday and widely expected to be sharply lower. The Thomson Reuters/Jefferies CRB index, a global benchmark for commodities, dropped about 1 percent to the lowest in nearly three weeks as weak demand pressured large markets such as oil and copper lower. Coffee Standoff Tests Growers' Grit
Posted in on окт 09, 2012 кофе , цены , арабика

Brazil's coffee farmers have been hoarding some of their crop, waiting for the right price. But buyers are testing their patience. Coffee has been trickling out of No. 1 supplier Brazil more slowly than usual this year. The Brazilian government estimates that the annual coffee harvest that wrapped up last month is a record, but the South American country's exports are down on the year. The reason: Farmers haven't been happy with prices, which hit two-year lows in June. But big coffee buyers like Folgers-maker J.M. Smucker Co. are in no rush to buy. Global stockpiles of arabica beans, the covet...

Posted in on окт 08, 2012 кофе , рынок , цены , арабика , робуста

Steady demand for robusta was seen in Europe's cash coffee market this week with selling pressure developing as the new harvest in top exporter Vietnam helped reduce price differentials, traders said on Friday. "There was repeated robusta purchasing largely for nearby deliveries with buying spread across a number of roasters," one trader said. "Differentials are coming down as pressure to free storage space in Vietnam is apparent." Old crop Vietnam Grade 2 beans for October/November shipment were offered at differentials of $40 under London's November robusta contract on Friday against $30 un...

And the amount of beans pouring into the Port of Houston - most of them "green," or unroasted - appears to be picking up after slipping in recent years as the price of coffee has escalated. In May 2011, the benchmark price for green Arabica coffee reached $3.05 per pound, its highest in more than 30 years. It is now trading at well below $2 per pound. "There was not much coffee coming to any port i...
